We are pleased to welcome students

to Schweinfurt Middle School for School Year 2009-2010.

 

Monday, 31 August, is a full day of school for registered students. The dress code is in effect.

Staff will be on hand to begin receiving students at 0740. If the weather is fair, students will wait outside in front and staff will be available to direct students to the correct spot. If weather is bad, students will be ushered into the gym.

Before the first bell students will be welcomed, they will participate in the morning Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, and some announcements will be made. The 6th grade teachers will escort 6th grade students to their Advisory class to begin the day. And 7th and 8th grade teachers will be on hand to direct 7th and 8th grade students to their Advisory class to begin their school day.

Advisory teachers will collect attendance data for the students in their advisory classes and begin their orientation to Schweinfurt Middle School policies and procedures. Students will receive their "Planners", their locker assignment and combination, and their individual schedules. Students will have opportunities to ask questions through out their orientation.

Students should bring a lunch, lunch tickets or money to purchase a lunch in the cafeteria. A shortened schedule rotation will be followed so that all students have a chance to locate the classes in their individual schedules. Discussion of student responsibilities and privileges mentioned in the student handbook will continue through out the week during advisory class time.

School will dismiss at 1440 and busses will depart by 1500.

Also on Monday, 31 August, Dr. Carpenter and Mr. Conrad invite all parents-sponsors of 6th grade students to meet with them at 0815 in the cafeteria/multi-purpose room. A full orientation to the Schweinfurt MS A/B day schedule, policy and procedures, best practices and tips for a successful school year will be covered.

All parents-sponsors of 7th and 8th grade students  are invited to meet with Dr. Carpenter and Mr. Conrad at 0915 in the cafeteria/multi-purpose room for a similar orientation.

The rest of the week staff and students will follow the normal A/B schedule.
